When you know someone’s pulling you towards it, you just need to stop them and say, “We’re not going there. Sorry. You can say all the evil things you want about this person, but I will not do that with you anymore. I’m going to try to love that person as best I can. I’ll judge the situation, not the person. I’ll evaluate boundaries, but I am not going to tear people apart.”
Now, I used to judge people all the time when I was growing up. That’s a weakness that I had. God has been saying to me, “You cannot do that.” Never assume these things that you do in your heart do not have a power released behind them.
Our culture assumes that we can do spiritual things once in a while, when we want to be spiritual, but that the rest of the time nothing in the spirit realm has any effect on us. That’s absolutely not true. These decisions that you make in your heart, these things that you say, these inner vows that you make, these assumptions you have, they all have a spiritual effect in your life.
Next one is this. Sowing and reaping. Galatians 6:7 says:
“Do not be deceived. God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” This is the principle of the power of the kingdom and the power of darkness. Every deed sown in blessing releases blessing. It’s just that simple.
Do you know why people only grasp this in one arena? I don’t understand why people understand it only in the arena of money. Sow money into something, and that act of blessing releases blessing in every other arena of your life.
We understand that with money because everybody wants money. What we have trouble with grasping is that when you’re kind to individuals or you do something to bless someone or take care of them or minister to them that the concept always applies.
You sow into other people’s lives, it releases the power and the blessing in your life. Who knows what area that power and blessing will show up in? But do you want blessing in your life? Sow blessing.
Constantly sowing blessing releases blessing in you. You stay under an umbrella of blessing. Curses releases curses. Now curses are things that we speak. There are things in our hearts, and there are things that we do. When we release those things, it releases curses back into our own lives. Everything has cause and effect.
Now we’re going to go back to this issue of parents and talk about this. Becoming what we judge. Isn’t that great? Romans 2:1. “You, therefore, having no excuse, you pass judgment onto someone else. For whatever point you judge others, you condemn yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same thing.”
God’s basically saying when you hold bitterness or resentment or you will not forgive people or honor people and you have an evil heart towards them, God says you have no right to do that because you’ve done the same thing they have. You just haven’t figured it out yet.
