We’re going to be talking about the cross and wounded memories. Jesus has a done a perfect redemption. Redemption is to touch every arena of your life. God is to touch you physically. God is touch you spiritually. God is touch you in your soul.
He has made the provision through what he has done for us to transform every area of our lives. I would say this, though. In my study of the Church and what the Church has been doing in the last about 50 or 60 years, that the Church has actually changed emphasis.
Let me talk to you about this. In the early 1900s, actually, the emphasis on the body of Christ was physical healing. Then, when it into the 1940s, they had what they call the Latter Rain movement.
That was a lot on physical healing. Then, I think, the Lord, when the Charismatic Movement came along, He changed the aspect of how healing was going to go forth.
He stopped it from just being physical healing, and he went to what we would call the restoration of the soul of man. God just decided that He was going to go and deal with all the stuff that keeps man from being, in their character, looking like Christ.
Now, it’s a form of healing. It’s just not something like your foot hurts, and God heals it. He’s going into the soul and touching a pain that’s happened in there. That’s actually where the Church has been now. We actually have what they call Christian counselors.
There’s a group called Rapha, and you go there, and what they do is they actually just counsel you. They apply prayer to you. They teach you scriptures on how God wants to change you. You learn the aspects of how to let things go, how to go through your past and let God bring redemption to it. It’s helped the Church.
It’s helped the Church to grow up in an aspect of understanding God’s grace for them. When we talk about healing, we have to cover this, because most of the time, when people are struggling in an arena with God about believing God for something — this is going to be kind of hard to say, so let me say it.
When it’s hard to believe God for something, it isn’t because God isn’t available to do it, and it isn’t because there’s something specifically wrong with you. There’s a way that you’re looking at it that makes it hard for you to open up to the love of God, and that directly has impact on how you were raised and how you view life and what your expectations are and how you process things.
God wants to heal that and get that restored so that there will be an openness, a simplicity and a gentleness for God to minister to you. Okay? Learning the power of the cross.
