We’re going to talk about faith now. Specifically, we are talking about the gift of faith that is in 1 Corinthians 12, which is different than the other Greek words that we use for faith.
So, let’s try to define it. When it comes to faith, we are going to see a difference in this gift. It’s a manifestation for ministry that differs from the faith of salvation. You can have a growing concept of faith by reading in scripture of the value of your faith—maturing through reading the Word of God. We are talking about an immediate surge of faith to accomplish something.
All the gifts of Revelation that we’ve talked about—all the words of wisdom, discerning spirits—that’s the Lord speaking to us. The byproduct is a release of faith in our hearts. You know, some people see the gifts in the church and say, well, there are nine gifts so everybody has one, alright? That’s what they teach. And so, if I have to just get faith, what in the world am I going to do?
You know, I can’t do anything, I just have the gift of faith. So, that means I’m just full of faith. I just work around the church all the time? And so, you have a problem? Oh, just have faith like I did. They resolve it all, well, could you pray for me? No. I’m just to have faith, alright. Or what if your gift is interpreting tongues? I mean, what are you going to do in church? I just interpret tongues.
I mean, come on. That whole view of gifts, it doesn’t work. You don’t see that in the way that Jesus trains people, you don’t see it in how the church works. A lot of people think one person only has one gift, and they always focus on the gift of prophecy or the gift of healing.
By the way, I would give everything I have to get miracles. You know what I’m saying? No, I never. I have taught on gifts, gifts, gifts all over the place in the United States. I am asking anyway. They won’t feel they have to get the miracle, and no one ever raises their hand.
So, the only gifts that are working today are prophecy, and everybody wants to be a prophet or heal. Everybody wants to have a healing ministry, and we don’t function in almost any of the other gifts. Now, you see how that’s an imbalance?
All of them have to blend for the situation for something to happen. So, when we have the gift of faith, it isn’t just, that’s my gift. What it is, it’s God speaks to us. “Faith comes by hearing, hearing from the word of God,” right? Our job is to hear. His job is to give us faith. What is faith based on him speaking to you? That’s the revelation.
He gives words of wisdom, words of knowledge discerning spirits. When that happens, what happens is faith comes inside of you. It’s also not only the bridge but that person is the bridge for you to take action because you know God is there. Does that make sense?
