We All Have Times When We Need A Hug

THE COMING OF THE PARACLETE – THE HOLY HUGGER

Understanding and experiencing more of the embrace of God can help clarify another aspect of the Holy Spirit that is not often emphasized. In John 14:15 Jesus promised the coming of the Comforter, a new name He was giving for the Holy Spirit. The actual word Jesus used here was “Paraclete”. The word is usually translated as “Comforter” or “Counselor” but it can also be accurately translated as “One who comes alongside and embraces.” In other words, God is being described as The Holy Hugger!

WE ALL HAVE TIMES WHEN WE NEED A HUG

Sometimes what we’re thinking inside ourselves, our “self-talk” if you please, are things like, “I’m struggling, I’m alone, I’m scared, I’m having a difficult time!” Well, when we are thinking things like this, why not add one of the most powerful thoughts in all the world to go along with these. Why not add, “I’m going to go to my Father right now and ask Him for a great big hug!” And then just communicate to Him, “Embrace me!”

We were fashioned for this. So we don’t want to allow man-made religion to mess this up in our heads. This is the relationship Jesus invited us into in the Kingdom. This is why He was willing to die, not just to forgive us of our sins but to restore us back to full fellowship and relationship with His father and our Father! He opened the door and He said, “Come into my Father’s house with full rights and benefits.” One of the biggest benefits is He wants to hug us, embrace us and draw us near to His great heart of love, not now and then, but often and regularly. This is our inheritance in heaven. Never settle for living far below our privileges and benefits as children of God.
