What’s Your Father Like?

Some of us we haven’t had what we could call a mature or good picture of what a father is like. This has affected us. If we don’t want to embrace Him as a father then that means we have a wrong picture of who God is as a father. We want to explore and look at what the Scriptures says about this. One of the greatest joys of Jesus was to call on His Abba which means Daddy in English.

Jesus is saying in effect, ‘He’s my Father. He’s your Father.” Jesus meant that this understanding would satisfy a deep longing inside of us that would do an incredible work inside of us to not only enjoy God but to love Him deeply.

Specifically, we’re going to look at the great truth of God being gentle. Depending on how we were raised, what culture we are a part of, if we have an opportunity to travel around the world, we can see how different cultures treat people in these respective cultures and how fathers treat children in these various cultures.

What we need to do is realize that God is the standard of how we are to be in relationship with other human beings. God is saying in effect “Well, this is how I am as a Father.” The apostle Paul is now dealing with this.

The Apostle Paul is saying in effect, Okay, when we are around each other and there are  strong leaders and people that have strong personalities. How are we to relate to each other?
